Yoga Stretches For Beginners.

Yoga stretches for beginners – private yoga lessons in Wimbledon, Southfields, Putney and Fulham.

Regular stretching is just as important as regular exercise. ?Stretching improves flexibility, posture and prevents injury by warming up the muscles. ?Yoga is one of the best forms of exercise for stretching out tight muscles that cause discomfort and our limit range of motion.

Here are 3 yoga stretches for beginners you can do at any time of the day to improve flexibility:

Uttanasana- Standing Forward Fold

Standing Forward Fold calms the mind and deeply stretches the hamstrings and calves. ?Stand nice and tall – inhale and?exhale as you bend forward hinging from the hips, lengthening the front of your torso, bringing the chest towards the thighs. ?Bend your elbows and hold onto each elbow with the opposite hand. ?Let the crown of your head hang down and relax your head and neck. ?Press your heels into the floor as you lift your sit bones toward the ceiling. ?Bend your knees as much as you need to.

Trikonasana- Triangle Pose

Triangle pose is a full body stretch and strengthens the thighs, knees, and ankles. ?Stand straight. ?Separate your feet a comfortable width apart. ?Turn your right foot out 90 degrees and left foot in by 15 degrees. ?Ensure that your feet are pressing the ground and the weight of your body is equally balanced on both the feet.

Inhale deeply and as you exhale, bend your body to the right, hinging from the hips, keeping the waist straight, allowing your left hand to come up in the air while your right hand comes down towards floor. ?Keep both arms in a straight line.

Rest your right hand on your shin, ankle, or the floor outside your right foot, whatever is possible, while lengthening the waist. ?Stretch your left arm toward the ceiling, in line with the tops of your shoulders. ?Keep your head in a neutral position or turn it to the left, eyes gazing softly towards the left palm. ?Breathe.

As you inhale, come up, bring your arms down to your sides, and straighten your feet. ?Repeat the same on the other side.

Balasana-? Child?s Pose

This is a wonderful pose for stretching the back, neck, hips, thighs, and ankles. ?Sit upright comfortably on your heels. Roll your torso forward and bring your forehead to rest on the ground in front of you. ?Extending your arms forward, lower your chest to your knees as close as you comfortably can. ?Hold the pose and breathe into your torso. ?Exhale and release to get deeper into your fold.
