Yoga – an intelligent and mindful movement

Yoga – an intelligent and mindful movement.

What if you were told that there was a magic wand that could give you better sleep, more energy, tone your body, help you lose weight, make you look and feel younger, boost your immune system, enhance your power of concentration and much more?

So, where is the catch? There isn’t one. In fact anyone can use it regardless of age, race, gender or physical ability, what’s more there are absolutely no side effects.

Sounds like a no-brainer and all you have to do is take your shoes off, get on the mat and do asanas, deep breathing and some lying down at the end a couple of times a week or – even better – every day.

Yoga it’s not an overnight miracle cure; it is a journey, but the effects can last a lifetime.  It is a discipline, it takes dedication and regular practice.

So, what does yoga mean?  The Sanskrit word Yoga loosely translated means “yoke-union or balance”.

So every time you step on a yoga mat you connect to an evolving and powerful ancient tradition.

Yoga is a powerful healing tool, creating balance and harmony in the whole body, mind and spirit.

It essentially unblocks the various pathways and meridians – the energy channels which form a network which interconnect all parts of the body at the physical, spiritual and emotional level.

Freeing up these meridians allows the currents of blood, lymph, electricity, oxygen and information to flow, and the health of the entire being is restored and maintained.

Yoga is mindful and intelligent. We are interested in the entire body including the deeper aspects of nervous system, the glands, the organs, the spine, the breath and the flow of energy.

Whilst the health benefits of yoga are very  real and effectual, yoga is more about mind than the body.

It is by learning to relax through the use of physical postures (asanas) that we take the first step to realizing our true self.
