Your liver is your body’s primary organ for detoxification – when it is not well, neither are you.
This is why we should all add foods to our diets which strengthen and nurture this organ to help it do it’s job.
I am sharing this liver cleansing smoothie recipe – which is packed with mega doses of nutrients to support your liver – and is super tasty as well!
Here are a few reasons to drink it at least twice a week:
Beetroot: cleanses the liver, purifies the blood and is anti-inflammatory.
Carrot: contains beta carotene, which increases liver function.
Avocado: provides healthy fats and glutathione to cleanse toxins.
Apple: is high in pectin, which removes toxins from the digestive tract, protecting the liver.
Lemon juice: alkalizes and detoxifies the blood.
Coconut oil: protects against gallstones.
Kale: stimulates the flow of bile.
Liver Cleansing Smoothie Recipe
Serves 4 (if possible all ingredients should be organic)
1 and a half cup filtered water
1 avocado, pitted
2 medium carrots, chopped
small bunch of kale
1 apple, chopped
1 small/medium beetroot, roughly chopped
1 lemon, juiced
1 tbsp coconut oil
Add all ingredients to a high speed blender and blend until smooth. Adjust sweetness if desired with a little raw honey.
As long at it is covered, this liver cleansing smoothie recipe will keep in your refrigerator for up to two days.
